Coconut Grove

 Coconut Grove is one of the oldest communities in the city of Miami and overlooks Biscayne Bay.  Throughout the years Coconut Grove has always had the reputation of attracting authors, artists, musicians and inventors such as Robert Frost, Alexander Graham Bell, Tennessee Williams and Marjory Stoneman Douglas, defender of the Everglades.

Coconut Grove, referred to by the locals as "The Grove", consists of numerous distinct neighborhoods with various unique styles.  The interesting thing about "The Grove" is that you can find a small cottage next to a brand new large mansion.  Some of these estates are waterfront with direct access to the ocean.  Some of the residents are very high profile individuals involved in the entertainment, business and sports professions.

South Miami, incorporated in 1927, is one of the County's oldest municipalities with a permanent residential, tri-ethnic population of approximately 11,862 as of 12/16/2010. The “town center” area east of US1 is a vibrant shopping, dining and entertainment venue with a hometown ambiance. Two major hospitals within the city provide employment and services to people throughout the county and beyond.
